Allium sphaerocephalon (Drumstick Allium) Package of 20

Allium sphaerocephalon, commonly called Round-Headed Leek or Drumstick Allium, blooms in early to midsummer with compact, egg-shaped flower heads that transition from lime green to rich claret-purple. Reaching 20 to 24 inches (50 to 60 cm) tall on slender, wiry stems, its airy habit allows it to weave seamlessly through existing perennials and ornamental grasses without crowding neighboring foliage. It is especially effective drifted among silvery foliage plants, salvias, and catmints, providing fine vertical accents and movement. The nectar-rich blooms attract bees and butterflies, while the bulbs are generally deer, rabbit, and rodent resistant. It naturalizes easily by bulblets and self-seeding, returning reliably year after year. Hardy in zones 4 to 8.
